I’m not sure many kids want to change clubs. Why would you go from training with the top players in the region on a normal roster size at a GA club to training with middling players at a roster size of 30 at an ECNL club? It seems like that would slow, stop or reverse a top player’s skill development. Of course some bench players will be looking to move, but the top players should, want to stick together so they can keep challenging each other.
Agree. These ECNLers think the talent of the players and the level of the rosters magically increased because the GDA went away. The players are the same, the coaches are the same. And if ECNL MA had let in the local GDA teams, FCV and Arlington would have been competing for playoff spots, MU likely near the bottom and VDA, McLean, BRYC and Loudoun about where they finished last year. It continues to amaze me that ECNLers cannot recognized that VDA was at the bottom of the MA division of GDA that they bash and now is middle of the pack in ECNL. That, by itself, is more evidence of the levels of the leagues. If the teams stay the same, ECNL players don't just magically become better and the GDA players become worse. That may be the dumbest theory posted on this board. Ever.
Some mis-truths here. ECNL rosters are generally around 20 or less, except for the U18-19 age groups which drift higher for various reasons. VDA joined for the 2018-19 season. Although I don't have the standings (why don't they make these avbl) I think they did worse on average their first year. It sounds like you are talking about a particular age group though, not sure which one. Kinda hard to generalize about a clubs performance across years. Lots of things change year to year so your generalization of strength based on the 19-20 season is pretty squishy.
What age vda? It’s an entire club not just the team your DD plays.
They are referring to the 04 team because who ever this is, really is obsessed and needs to prove that team sucks. Lol that team ended the season 3rd in the conference 3 years ago, 5th last year ECNL and 5th this year ECNL with a conference size of 11 clubs. What are you trying to prove? The only way to handle this is on the pitch. Let us know when you want to play.
I think it just proves that the particular VDA team is not extraordinary.
