Not likely.  OOB will probably be less than 10% of Eaton, and declining, within five years.  IB enrollment is way up and is projected to continue to climb.[/quote]

OK with us.  DC has created a system of neighborhood based schools and why shouldn’t Eaton, like other Ward 3 schools, be firmly anchored as a neighborhood school?[/quote]

I think, wisely, they are waiting to see how the move impacts numbers before deciding what to do for this year. Given that schools typically have a much higher IB uptake rate post- renovation, filling slots now with OOB would result in an immediate overcrowding situation when the students return to the school in 2 years. That said, I am aware of 5 students so far in my oldest’s grade not returning this fall. Given the impact on funding, I’m not sure Eaton can afford to leave those spots open if new IB children don’t move into the grade this year.[/quote]
