Their point was that black lives are often treated as not mattering.  They have been very effective in getting attention focused on how blacks are treated by police in many areas.

There will always be SOME people offended by anything you say.   I use my own judgement to determine if its offensive. I don't think many people who have thought seriously about the matter find a BLM sign offensive.

And no, yard signs are not tacky IMO.
