Well, you'd think/hope the people running the world would do better, whatever the girls' intentions were.
There are always slime balls to deal with, kids/teens just need to be aware of this and learn to deal with them appropriately. Also teach your kids not to delve into illegal activities for money. It’s never worth it. Additionally don’t blame others for your bad choices, because let’s be honest this is what this was, teens making bad choices, just like choosing to do drugs, to drink, to have sex and get pregnant, to steal, etc. Own your mistakes, learn from them, and don’t expect a huge payout from blaming everyone but yourself.
Who is seeking a payout? I see a bunch of creepy old men wanting to protect their jobs and reputations from (deserved) losses.
The women now coming out of the woodwork. Like it just dawned on them that this was wrong, yet they willingly went back day after day for years and made much more than most kids and adults working at Walmart or McDonalds. I am sure they see $$$$ now by claiming this ruined the trajectory of their lives. It’s very transparent what they are doing. They also were told to lie about their ages and say they were 18.
So what? Statutory rape is a strict liability crime. If she's under 18, you do the time.
If an underage kid uses a fake ID to purchase alcohol should the bar or provider be held liable? I don’t agree that they should be. The kid must own their mistake for lying and making the mistake of illegally drinking alcohol.
There’s a big difference between a 19 year old who looks like they could be 21 and who has a realistic looking fake ID and a 12 or 13 year old girl who looks 15 at most and says she’s 18 — especially when the guy introducing you to the girl is known to have a huge supply of questionably young girls.
