Are people still trying to stack schools? Or are they finally trying to do right for system as a whole? I will not be surprised if at the end of the day, we will have spent loads of money and made almost no improvements. It is the FCPS way.
Explain what that means for the untutored.
Trying to interpret here myself. It I think it means that they are trying to make elite schools? There are different schools of thought on how FCPS will improve. Some want more schools with great scores--a la Langley. Some think we should move kids in order to improve scores at other schools. My personal belief: leave kids where they are and work to improve the struggling schools Address the issues rather than cover them up. I say that as a former teacher who worked with impoverished kids who lived in the projects. Granted, this was an elementary school, but we made great strides with the kids. It took very hard work by the teachers and direct instruction. Did we reach the top tier? No. Not in all areas. But, we came close with math. To improve scores in a high school, moving in wealthier kids works. However, it does not improve the education of struggling students. It just covers up their scores. So, do I know what PP means by stacked? Not sure. But, that is my guess.
