I am crap at searching for things I saw once so I don’t have the link for proof but due to the GOP’s exquisitely discriminatory vote rigging via gerrymandering and everything else they do to suppress specific votes, Democrats have to win by incredible margins just to win. Our votes are so diluted in many states despite the raw numbers being there.

Our legislators stopped representing the people they are supposed to a long time ago. They are now just special interest lackies who take millions and millions in handouts from lobbyists. You know if they actually believed some of the stuff their legislating and lived by it. That's one thing, but these people don't have a moral bone in their body and they're trying to legislate that morality on to others. We need to get special interest money out of Washington and we need better representation and get rid of gerrymandering. Like I said, the people stopped being represented a very long time ago.

DP. So what? Her experience is not the experience of all women, and she is far from an expert on the risks and challenges that can come with pregnancy. I have given birth to two children. I have also had two miscarriages, right at the end of my first trimester each time. The two pregnancies I did not lose were brutal. If my employer were not so accommodating with flexible hours and work from home (they were ahead of their time when I had my first in 2007), I would have had to take medical leave starting around 20 weeks with each. I had complicated deliveries with both, and my daughter and I both almost died when she was born in 2010. And it was devastating to be told in no uncertain terms afterward that I should never try to have another baby because it could very well kill me.

So why is Ofjesse’s opinion on the burdens of pregnancy and childbirth more legitimate than mine?

Not in heavily gerrymandered districts. Not in districts that attempt to disenfranchise their voters.

+1 I’m not familiar with the state legislative districts in Louisiana, but I n a state where 1/3 of the population is Black, Louisiana has only one majority Black House district in violation of the Voting Rights Act, and the district looks like this:

Working the refs! Nice, right winger! Actually the first night this broke, the NYT didn’t bother with this travesty of a decision; they were all in on the leak, just as you’d suspect from a right wing outlet like NYT.

No one cares about the leak in the face of the fascist GOP telling women they can go get fcked, we have no rights. (For my money, it was absolutely a right winger leaking. If you want to talk about a group of people who want to destroy America and its laws and norms, look no further than the GOP).
