I am conservative; I don’t believe in abortion; I would have no issue living in a state that banned or severely restricted abortion (though I would certainly support carve outs). That being said, I hope this opinion is amended. I am tired of the culture wars. I value the American center and I feel that both “sides” would be well advised to resist stomping on hot button issues in this period of time that feels perilously fractious.
But allowing for carve outs defeats the whole purpose of “life begins at conception” doesn’t it? Either it’s a life or it isn’t. Doesn’t matter how it starts (rape, incest, etc).
Look. If that is your belief, don't ever get an abortion. Don't force your belief on me. Leave these decisions to the women making them.
Respectfully that’s not really a persuasive argument.
Don't force you anti abortion views on me is not persuasive? Why do you need to do it? I might believe the world is over populated and no more children should be born at all. Or I should only have one child. Do I force that on you?
That’s why I don’t like the opinion to be honest - it’s very hard to see eye to eye on this issue. If I value the fetus as a life or potential life, your libertarian argument fades away. I understand you don’t see it that way. The whole issue is like a dog chasing it’s tail- anyway I don’t mean to make light of it with that metaphor.
