How come madison and marshall sat scores are so close if madison is the whitest and richest where as marshall has 20% poors and fewer whites.
Also curious is that in 2014 Marshall had higher average Scores on the writing portion of the SAT than any school in the county other than Langely or TJ.
That isn't even true, by the way. http://www.fcps.edu/cco/pr/satact/2014/Table2.pdf
According to this, the only two schools that had higher writing SAT scores than Marshall in 2014 were Langely and TJ. Oakton tied with Marshall (576). Are you just playing gotcha with the poster because Oakton was tied?
Are you just trying to obfuscate that the Marshall poster either deliberately lied or failed to read the FCPS information correctly? There seems to be a real pattern of Marshall posters playing fast and loose with facts in their zeal to make the school look better.
I'm the one who posted it. Ya got me. I missed that there was a tie with Oakton. You so smart. Give yourself a pat on the back. But you made an incorrect assumption that I'm a Marshall parent. I live in Arlington. I'm looking at data on FCPS because I'm looking to move to FC. Haven't decided where I'm going to move yet, so I don't have a horse in the game. Actually leaning toward McLean, in fact, although I haven't ruled out Marshall. I was just noting the writing scores because I thought it was an interesting departure. Note that you saw a Marshall parent being smarmy from a statement that wasn't even complimentary of Marshall (I called it "curious" that they did so well).
I'm the one who just posted this comment. I lost my temper and should not have. The comment about obfuscating was just so asinine But it does underscore something that has been said on the site. Marshall parents are accused of obnoxious self-promotion, but nobody can quote examples. It's because some people apparently see obnoxious self-promotion in anything remotely complementary of the school. Again, here's the comment, not even from an FCPS parent: "Also curious is that in 2014 Marshall had higher average Scores on the writing portion of the SAT than any school in the county other than Langely or TJ." THAT'S obnoxious self-promotion?
