As I understand it, Christianity (the only religion I'm vaguely familiar with) is mainly about making sure you go to heaven when you die. And since Jesus forgives your sins, that's a done deal, right? So where's the sense of purpose? As an atheist, I don't believe in an afterlife. The only thing that matters is this life, so it's pretty important to me to give it meaning and purpose. I also don't count on some invisible being to take care of the environment, animals, and my fellow man, so there's a few possible purposes right there. As for the universe -- do you believe your God has domain over all of it, or just Earth? And if so, do you believe He has created life elsewhere?[/quote]
