Langley and South Lakes each have only 9 combined losses over the last two years, which is less than Madison (13), Battlefield (10), Robinson (11), Cosby (10). Like YT, Langley appears to be managing a big coaching shakeup. South Lakes lost some strong seniors.
Yorktown only lost 2 games in the past two seasons, closest rivals lost 9+. I think many on this board are underestimating Yorktown's depth. Yes, the '25 class was outstanding, but their bench last year was strong and they had players on JV that could have been contributors at other top varsity programs. Looking forward to seeing what can do this season.
In addition to all of the seniors, their best 27 who was a top player transferred. With her on the team, they would have a much better chance of continuing to be strong, even with the depletion of the strong senior class. Even if they had a very strong JV team, they will still be inexperienced and young.
None of us actually know the depth of YT's team because their '25 seniors got the vast majority of the playing time last season. Presumably, they had a varsity bench that was made up '26s and '27s that are now JRs/Srs. Their varsity second stringers played every day against their starters in practice, plus garbage time in games. It's really hard to say how good YT will be because they are largely an unknown. I imagine their second-string varsity players are talented. My prediction is they will be competitive but not dominate. I see them battling against the top teams (slightly more losses than wins) and handling the middle of the pack teams. We will see in a few weeks.
