Any idea if they are mixing up the state playoff brackets this year? Otherwise, the two best teams will most likely be playing each other in the semifinals. The only reason it worked out last year decently was because there were three clear top teams

Key 2026 Rules Changes
Stick Checks (Rule 2-4-5): Requests for stick checks are restricted to quarter breaks, halftime, team time-outs, before overtime, or immediately after a goal to prevent mid-quarter delays.
Electronic Devices (Rule 2-8-3 - NEW): Players are prohibited from wearing or using any audio or video devices during the game.
Illegal Draw (Rule 5-2): When a player draws illegally, any player from the non-offending team may take the free position.
Goal Circle Fouls (Rule 7-3): On a goal circle foul, the offending player moves 4 meters away from the free position, rather than behind.
Goalkeeper Possession (Rule 4-3-3d): If a timeout is called with the goalie in possession within the circle, play resumes at the closest dot, allowing any player to restart.

Yorktown only lost 2 games in the past two seasons, closest rivals lost 9+. I think many on this board are underestimating Yorktown's depth. Yes, the '25 class was outstanding, but their bench last year was strong and they had players on JV that could have been contributors at other top varsity programs. Looking forward to seeing what can do this season.

In addition to all of the seniors, their best 27 who was a top player transferred. With her on the team, they would have a much better chance of continuing to be strong, even with the depletion of the strong senior class. Even if they had a very strong JV team, they will still be inexperienced and young.

None of us actually know the depth of YT's team because their '25 seniors got the vast majority of the playing time last season. Presumably, they had a varsity bench that was made up '26s and '27s that are now JRs/Srs. Their varsity second stringers played every day against their starters in practice, plus garbage time in games. It's really hard to say how good YT will be because they are largely an unknown. I imagine their second-string varsity players are talented. My prediction is they will be competitive but not dominate. I see them battling against the top teams (slightly more losses than wins) and handling the middle of the pack teams. We will see in a few weeks.

Totally agree with this. Played YT 2x last year and as a coach watching them warm up most were better than average. Hope YT is in the mix.

Yorktown has always had a strong feeder program, and I am sure their JV team was one of the strongest in the area. They will have a solid team and probably win most of their games. However, even if they have a few of the top 29s in the area coming in, which no one has claimed, they will be very inexperienced at the varsity level.

Not sure if they have any strong 29s coming up, but I watched some YT games last year and they have several 26s/27s that were big contributors. They will have plenty of strong players to be competitive.

Can I just compliment this group on how positive a conversation this has been in the last several pages! Yes, people have said this team isn’t ready, or that team will have a losing record. But these are all just people predicting based off of their opinion from what they saw in the past. Not people just saying things to be jerks or put another team down or to bait someone else into an argument.

This was great conversation and actual dialogue on a sight known for people being @$$h0les about every other team but their own. I actually enjoyed reading it

THANK YOU

I think your under estimating how significant it is to replace the entire starting lineup and have a new head coach come in.

According to MaxPreps, YT starts with Robinson, Chantilly, WSpringfield, Battlefield, Meridian. What does the board think they do against that group? 0-5?

I’d wager 1-4

At least 2-3, Chantilly and WS for sure. Maybe one of Robo/Meridian.
