I think there are two Goncalves sisters. One didn’t give a statement but her mom did on her behalf. She said the sister hopes he gets los of “D’s” in prison. People politely chuckled but definitely a bit trashy. I’m wondering if she’s still in high school.

The other sister, Alivia Goncalves, gave a really interesting impact statement. I guess you’d call it a “roast”. Very different than a typical victim impact statement. Her last line - “You want the truth? Here’s the one you’ll hate the most: If you hadn’t attacked them in their sleep, in the middle of the night like a pedophile, Kaylee would have kicked your f–king ass”[/quote]

Yeah I understand her need to say this, but I'm pretty sure that pedophiles attack children in the daytime as well. The problem is, if the sending of insults is designed to make them feel better, they need to be better worded. I'm sure there must have been family liaison people at the court / in the policeforce who would have been able to advise on this.[/quote]

She wrote the impact statement for Kohberger alone.  Sure, she could've gotten up there are talked about how wonderful her sister was, how much they miss her, etc.  But she knows that Kohberger is a true psychopath, unable to feel empathy or remorse.  The only way to "impact" him is to hit his ego.  So that's what she did.  Out of all the heartbreaking things said that day, her statement was probably the only one that actually bothered him, because she insulted his looks, intelligence, ability to get girls, etc.

It is so scary that we live among people who can murder four young adults in cold blood and feel absolutely nothing.  He's like a real life Hannibal Lector.[/quote]
