You need to educate yourself about the costs of the death penalty to the criminal justice system - it’s 3-10x more costly to seek the death penalty and procure it than it is to keep a person in prison for life without parole well into their elder years.

Most rational law enforcement officers from police to prosecutors to judges know that the death penalty is a horrible waste of resources that could better be used fighting more crime. All the research proves it is not a deterrent to crime which means it is 100% about feeding the blood lust of some members of our society.[/quote]

It’s only that expensive due to the well-funded left-wing groups committed to opposing the death penalty who fund frivolous appeal after frivolous appeal and sympathetic left-wing judges who entertain frivolous habeas claims because they oppose the death penalty in principle and believe that is more important than following the law.  Even so, in cases like this, the greater costs of execution would be totally worth it, the death penalty is the only just punishment for this kind of terrible crime. All the stuff about prison justice and tacky victim impact statements are merely the consequence of a state that has utterly failed in its duty to provide justice to crime victims [/quote]
