Trump has overreached, that’s for damn sure. People wanted lower prices. He took his marginal, not-even-a-majority win that he eked out as a sign that what they really wanted was for a wanna-be dictator, the richest man in human history, and a team of staggeringly uninformed opportunists to break absolutely everything— from the global economy to checks and balances to the paltry social safety net to any semblance of ethical guardrails. Mind you, I’m not opposed to breaking things. I’d break our corporate shareholder-prioritizated healthcare system and replace it with Medicare for All in faster than you can say “our formulary no longer covers that.” But this corrupt, ignorant, mendacious, taxpayer-funded free-for-all? Massive overreach.
Of course. You democrats invite in 10 million people with no background checks, but Trump deporting 100,000 criminals is overreach. Uh huh. F your party "ethics".
He overreached. Look at his poll #s
Context is everything. His numbers are way higher than democrat numbers.
Which is why the GOP and reasonable Trump voters should be furious with him. He had a chance to actually do some things that could make a real and meaningful difference in people’s lives. That’s not what he prioritized.
You still don’t get it so you? This IS what we voted for.
No, dummy. Polls show that immigration is supported by Americans but he ran on deporting criminals. Polls show that people don’t want the chaos in which ice is going about it, deporting basically everyone
He ran on deporting criminals but then didn't do that. Instead he deported harmless, hard-working, churchgoing, productive farmers, kitchen workers, maintenance workers, maids, construction workers and so on. He deported spouses, he deported parents of US citizens, he destroyed families. So much pointless, damaging chaos. We needed coherent immigration policy, not this.
He ran on stopping illegal immigration and deporting all illegal aliens. He never said he was only going to deport criminals and leave other illegals in the country. They set a goal to deport 1 million illegal aliens a year. They deported most criminals already and realized that they are stlll far below their 1 million goal. Now they need to go after law abiding illegal aliens to meet their goal and fulfill his promises. They demonized illegal immigrants and make it sound like the vast majority are criminals.
The demonization, the lying, the pretending they are eating cats and dogs, pretending they are all violent murderers and rapists, when more than 90% are just ordinary, peaceful, hard-working people just trying to feed their families - that's just godawful. And using these lies to justify misappropriating and wasting billions of dollars on badly mismanaged ICE crap, sending marines and so on is out of line - especially when they are refusing any alternatives like fixing visas, improving due process rather than the lawless cowboy crap, tearing families apart and so on. And if they'll do that to a migrant who else will they do it to?
