Great! She loved it & is likely to accept. We spoke at length with a number of US students (5) who were first or second year. Saw inside 2 dorms. Spent two full days in the town, everything was in bloom and we had good weather. It’s pretty awesome. Biggest drawback for us is the food & meal plan (not insignificant given a medical issue). The students we met were really happy there. They all noted the inexpensive travel they are able to do. They said is is DARK in winter - daylight only from 9-3 - but noted they are away on Xmas break for a bulk of that time. The many societies were also a high point. Loved the town so much.
My son just made the same choice -- St Andrews over CU Boulder. We're in-state with CU and while that means much lower tuition, it also means that it feels like less of an adventure since it's in his backyard. (Now as for why someone from Colorado is on DCUM: I stumbled on this forum last year and find it interesting and useful, even though I'm neither from DC nor a Mom.)
