I went to a DC private school. I loved it. I loved city life and taking public transportation and going to Commander Salamander after school. I appreciate the education I was given. (and the orange slices we got at Sidwell after a game)

But that does not take away from other amazing schools in the DC Metro area. They too are amazing and they should not be dissed because they are willing to educated the brothers/sister of the NMS because their learning needs are different. Many of us saw the sibling that did not get accepted.  Maybe these school see that the kids that washed out went on to be successful. How did they fail them in the past? Can they do it differently?

My sibling that washed out ended up making more money than both the lawyers combined. (Not that I measure success by salary)

My H who is the product of DC Private is in a service job and very successful (not financially though).

Maybe the mission of the footbal team is to beat Damatha AND the mission of the Ryken program is to education people with learning differences AND the mission of the IB program is to provide a challenging academic program. Can't they all coexist in 1 school?

Do we actually look down on on a school like Paul IV that has a special education program, St. Johns that has the Binilde, or GC has that has the Ryken and then mock them for their lower scores and say the whole school is mediocre. Is that really an accurate assessment?

I am not hating on the NMS but I think they are equally important as all the other children in our community - so maybe that is were the 30% comes from.
