And the NYT brought receipts. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/01/20/us/dei-woke-claremont-institute.html Why do conservatives hate America and everything it stands for? Why are they so racist?
The next time you get on an airplane do you want the pilot, crew and air traffic controller to have been hired on merit/qualifications or DEI? I’m guessing you’d go with merit/qualifications. Does that make you racist?
You commit a logical fallacy here. It is not an either/or choice.
https://wpde.com/news/nation-world/faa-slammed-over-targeted-disabilities-hiring-goal-people-will-die-due-to-dei-federal-aviation-administration-diversity-equity-inclusion-policy-guidance-elon-musk-sarah-palin FAA is seeking such people. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/united-airlines-training-program-aviate-academy-pilot-shortage-graduating-class-women-minorities/ United is picking 80% minotirty females.
They are not hiring based on race. They have a training program with an inaugural class that is 80% "minorities" OR women. Since 50%+ of the population are women and almost half are non-White, it doesn't seem hard to get to 80% women or "minorities".
Again the subtle stupidity of the DEI concept Why would you assume that the pipeline of people interested in being a pilot mirrors the sex & racial breakdown of the country as a whole? Women are about 5% of airline pilots globally So having a class that’s half women, for example, isn’t just a thumb on the scale - it’s jumping up and down on it Imagine trying to fill half a firefighter class with women (and thereby leaving out almost half the men who were interested) Would you expect it to create… better firefighters?
Damn, you sound really racist and sexist. It would be great to get more female firefighters because the fire & rescue industry is rife with sexual harassment of women and having more women could potentially change that culture. That being said, it's understandable that fewer women are interested in fire and rescue given the physical demands of the job. Airline pilots do not face the same physical demands so I don't see why they would have trouble recruiting women to a free training program that leads to a career. Sorry you're upset only 20% of the class was White men, but that just sounds really entitled that they should get the free training program and other people shouldn't.
