For the people standing in the back, such as yourself, multi-generational trauma caused by the United States gov't, atrocities, war crimes committed by the govt against the African American community has contributed to this factor.

The government has failed to apologize for its atrocities, nor has it paid reparations to African Americans.

This issue is systemic and is what happens when the govt stole a people from their land, enslaved them for 400 years, had Jim Crow, periods of lynching, mass incarceration, no civil rights and voting before 1965, science experiments on poor African Americans, under-resourced schools, etc.

I'm starting to feel multigenerational trauma from urban crime, being 50 years old with my DC native family spanning three generations of urban duress. I have friends who have moved from South Africa, Venezuela etc due to the unrelenting crime. Will DC be the same? [/quote]
