Not going to read 11 pages of posts on this, but find it bizarre that anyone would think this Israel situation is somehow a big win for Republicans.
The protesting in DC right now is not helping Biden or the Democrats.
They are protesting Biden you twit
NP. Right. But the issue is that swing state moderates and independents had already been on the fence about Biden but his pro-Israel stance had been making them lean back towards the Democrats. In other words one of the issues in this upcoming election was that moderates and independents hate Trump, but actively also hate the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. So, for swing state moderates, many are deciding whether the election is actually Trump versus Biden or MAGA vs progressive left. Or Trump v progressive left or Biden v. MAGA. In other words, for critical voters in swing states, a strong point in Biden’s favor is his ability to repudiate and restrain the progressive left. These marches, with their violence and graffiti and antisemitism, show that Biden can’t restrain the progressive left. Plus they show the progressive left aligned with values that repel moderate voters: support for terrorism, attempts to overrun the White House, etc. The marches will draw important voters to Republicans, make no mistake. For moderates who were horrified by J6, there are now images of masked far leftists trying to get into the White House while carrying the flag of a terrorist-supporting foreign country. For moderates worried about terrorism, there are now images and videos that look like thousands of people protesting in favor of terrorism on American streets. And yes of course I know that most protestors just want peace blah blah blah. Do you think effective campaign ads show any of that? Do you think the intent matters whatsoever in campaign politics? There are now going to be pictures and videos of masked far leftists trying to scale the White House fence with flags of a foreign country flooding moderate voters from now until the next presidential election. Essentially the far left has handed the Republicans a neat way of removing J6 as a campaign tool for Democrats and that’s a powerful victory for Republicans.
Jesus Christ - Biden is a moderate who is taking a strong stand FOR Israel, repudiating the extreme leftists who are calling for him to let Hamas slaughter as many Jews as they want because of social justice or something. If anyone looks at that situation and sees this as Democrats being insufficiently pro-Israel, I don't know what to tell you. Those were people who were looking to leave Biden anyway, is what that means.
Yes. Congratulations. You have discovered what a moderate voter in a swing state is. Of course this is about the swing state people who dislike both Trump and Biden and are looking for a reason to distance themselves from one or the other. That is precisely the group of voters we are discussing.
No. There is no true moderate who is looking at Biden's Israel policies and deciding that this time they're just going to have to give it to Trump. You're absolutely nuts if you think that is happening. Lots of us moderates are real sick and tired of the far left. And luckily Biden is not part of that end of our party!
Of course moderates aren’t giving their vote to Trump because of Biden’s policies in Israel, and that’s not remotely what I said. What I was specifically was that the imagery from these protests lessens the ability of Democrats to use J6 as a campaign issue, and that specifically is an issue with moderate voters who are on the fence. J6 was and still is a powerful campaign issue against Trump with moderate voters. But if Republicans can successfully tar Democrats as supporting their own version of vandalizing beloved and important symbols, of attempting to breach White House walls, with a foreign flag, that is going to hurt Democrats with moderate voters by somewhat neutralizing J6 as a campaign issue. In other words this is less about Israel and Palestinians and more about pictures and videos of far leftists attacking the White House in a way that doesn’t look all that different from the pictures and video we all saw on J6.
