That’s such a Washington response. I feel sorry for people who are so uncomfortable in their own skin that they have to be constantly distracting themselves with work and other “productive” activities. Keeping yourself busy is not an accomplishment — it’s usually a sign that you can’t face solitude or quiet. I had an extremely busy, stressful, successful career, which I enjoyed, and now I am very happy living a life where I can shape my own days (or do nothing at all) and very little is demanded of me while I am still young enough to enjoy it. I don’t need the job to feel complete. I do know people in my profession who will never retire because they truly wouldn’t know what to do with themselves, and I think that’s just who they are, but also very sad. [/quote]
