Okay here is the info : on the morning of MLK day a parent called the head of US and reported his son has had inappropriate contact with Bendann. The head of US called the head of school immediately and the head of school talked to parent and put Bendann on leave that day. They investigated for a few days and then fired him and notified all the parents and young alums from calsses 2008-2022, and gave the info for CPS. The HOS did not know about the sex abuse/rape/arrest until it hit news Friday. That victim went straight to CPS. The school still does not know who it is, it is important to note that its a separate victim than the one initially. The school is still scrambling etc. and working to communicate and get their head around everything and they have only known about physical abuse for 6 days now. As a current parent they are holding virtual town halls all week to support etc. and imagine there are many more vict ims.
That’s the info the school is choosing to share. Civil lawsuits and police investigation will unearth whether any teachers parents or students gave notice to the school that Chris was giving alcohol to kids, acting inappropriately etc. it’s not all about a massive coverup. That’s unlikely. What’s more likely is the school failed to follow their own policies and turned a blind eye to community members saying hey, somethings not right here. And they will pay through the nose for that failure.
If indeed they did fail in that way then they will deserve to pay for it. But I don’t know that, and neither do you. I don’t get this rush to judgment before we actually have any facts. All we know for sure at this time is that boys have been hurt and a community is in pain. I’m not sure what is served by all the speculation of what “MUST” have happened. And there seems to be vicious pleasure being taken by some commenters here in how Gilman (or, as the most frequent commenter seems to like to call it, gilman) will surely suffer. I don’t understand it and it would be really nice if you stopped.
