Success can be measured different ways. It sends a message when enough residents are disgusted with a local official's behavior that they are the subject of a recall effort, especially if the effort gathers enough signatures to trigger judicial scrutiny of the official's conduct. If a new election is required, even better. At a minimum, it appears that, by July, there will be enough signatures to recall Elaine Tholen to require her to show cause why she should not be unseated.
What does that mean? “Show cause”?
Show that she was fulfilling her duties/responsibilities as a member which should be pretty easy to do.
Depends on the judge.
doubtful, just because you do not like her votes doesn’t mean it is cause for removal.
Exactly. These openfcps people love keeping anger and division alive. There is zero chance that a recall would be successful. These members did the work, attended meetings ... they just had a different opinion. They were not negligent or absent.
+1 I laugh when I see them touting her Langely redistricting vote - the woman who ran against Tholen ran on the "Change the Board, Not the Boundaries" tag line. Tholen was the bad guy who was going to make the poor GF families go to the rough streets of Herndon for HS.
