Nobody packs up everything and completely vacates the room between semesters. At the end of the year, sure. But in December you still leave stuff there when you know you're coming back aka when we're not in a pandemic scenario with so many unknowns, including when students return to campus.[/quote]
Yes some schools have demanded a complete pack out. They are sanitizing over winter break due to COVID. 
But there are red flags all over this pairing including her previous roommate left her. It’s your DDs college experience also. If there is a way to change do it. [/quote]

Her previous roommate may not have left her, it is also possible the roommate never materialized and she had the room to herself in the fall.  I think PP's daughter has shown a few red flags herself - stalking on instagram and jumping to judgements about personality, what happened to her fall rooming placement?[/quote]
