If not, this could all be a debate over nothing and the window side may be the worse one. My freshman year roommate got the window bed by virtue of getting there first. I was relieved — not sure what made it desirable, since we faced a brick wall and it was often really cold by the window in the winter. The email sounds fine, IMO. I had a full-on email exchange full of pleasantries with a different roommate and ended up moving out 2 weeks later because she was very controlling and hard to live with, despite the “OMG hey girly pop love you can’t wait to room together xoxo!!!” tone a lot of PPs seem to want.
