We inherited different amounts from my parents. Guess which kids were the ones who kept in contact with my parents over the years?  Those that didn’t inherit, hasn’t had contact with them for a very long time. [/quote]

PP here. We are a very close-knit family.  My parents are immigrants who came to the US in the 60's with not a dime in their pockets - literally not a dime.  Together they built a successful business and taught us the value of money, and family.  Have we had periods of dysfunction over the years? yes. But in the end we always came together because blood is thicker than water and family is all that matters.  My dad passed a month ago, and I do wish that my mom would spend down some of the fortune they've built but she won't. it's just not her nature. She does "give" a lot of her/their money away to various charities, which is totally okay with me.[/quote]
