It varies by age group.  For example, for the senior team last year, Garnet was their top team and for the 2003 team, Blue was their top team.  And so on.  Although players often figure that out for themselves, Barca tries not to make it obvious and to keep players from focusing on that. [/quote]

Really? Why wouldn't you want your players to strive to be on the top team? Thats like saying DC United and Loudoun United are the same. Just train hard with no reward for being better than the rest. doesn't really make sense, Almost promotes non competitiveness . Am I wrong?[/quote]

Full disclosure, that was my interpretation.   So if I'm wrong, mea culpa.  BUT, having said that, I didn't take it that way at all. I took at as they are saying focus on being the best you can be on this team. And we are developing you where you are at.  And as the year goes on, we may move players around on teams, based on their progress and also to give them different positional experiences.  I've seen players move between teams and while it can feel good to move up, it can feel bad to move down.

But as I said, players always know. My son does.  It didn't take him long to know which team the better players were on.
