I've definitely heard of all the schools OP is asking about, and all have good reputations in the Midwest. But I've *barely* heard of William & Mary, which is clearly regarded as a top school in this area. (FWIW I went to Stanford in the '90s. The other schools I applied to were a handful of Ivies, the University of Illinois, and Carleton.
