and the tax cuts have made it worse. Rs said that it would create jobs and increase wages, thereby making up the difference or the lost in revenue. I think one R called it a "hope and prayer" strategy.   They were warned that it would balloon the deficit, but decided they would believe in voodoo economics rather than historical evidence.
