Hockey, Football, Basketball etc all have older kids. Only the dorks on here make it out to be something Lacrosse specific and continually beat it like a dead horse.
Yes, but all other sports have age based leagues. In HS it is not as much of an issue
So you think a double holdback is okay? a 16 year old playing in 8th grade is okay? Go to your next kid's game and see how many others agree.
you think they are 16 because they are driving, they are 15 and will turn 16 Fall of their Freshman year.
I don't think they will turn 16 by March, I know. BTW - if a kid is driving on a learner's and he got it today, this mean his birthday will be April 29 and he will turn 16 during the HoCo season while in 8th grade. Thanks for verifying. This means they have birthdays, at a minimum in 2003 and possibly even 2002 if they have had a learner's for over 30 days. Let me fill you in. 8th graders should be born at the most extreme in September of 2003 (and 2003 is ridiculous) through August 2005. Anything younger than that and the child should have severe learning or social issues and not athletic ones. Delayed entry for summer babies is one thing, January through May stretches it a lot; the year before - wow.
Va is 15 and 6 months MD is 15 and 9 months.
What's your point? That a team with a bunch of 15 year olds in 8th grade driving a car with a May/June/July birthday don't have an extraordinary advantage over other 8th graders who are 13 and 14?
I think older kids have an advantage, I think kids that go through puberty early have an advantage also. I'm just pointing out that they are most likely 15 and 6 months in the Spring because if they are older they are not eligible to play for Gonzaga and Prep. 75% of Mater dei's 8th grade are 15.... I think that is crazy. 3 kids I don't think is crazy, it's actually normal for about 20% of boys to be held back 1 year even if they are born in the Fall. I think the league should use birthdays.
You don't think 3 kids who are 16 and held back 2x (that's what is going on) is normal surrounded by a bunch of other 15 year olds playing against 13/14 year olds is okay? A delayed entry child should have a summer birthday making them 15 when they enter high school and not 16. Any kid born prior to June should be considered remedial. I know how Mater Dei and the private high schools got to this point and it's outrageous. It's a problem at all these private schools. At least you think birthdays is correct but you are justifying what is going on at MadLax with no real defensible position except to say "well others do it."
