new trend is to build a big box, many builders can do very good quality and nice interior for much cheaper price if you are just building a big box

you obviously never worked with architect before

some architects design houses with steel edge frame that need to be custom made and cost $$$$

its really up to the design and architect, at the same sqft, if you go with a simple design, you could have a nice quality home at $120/sqft, but an architect designed home might be challenging to build and require very skilled contractors, cost can easily go up to $250+/sqft even the interior finish are exactly same quality[/quote]
