[twitter]

The Great Falls (Herndon address) people tonight: "You owe me a good school because I paid too much for my house." The guy who had his daughter read her script about why Langley was better than Herndon was pure cringe. Then the wife took over and had her spiel too to make sure she covered the "I paid for a good school" schtick. It was diabolical when Reid was like, "what was that, we couldn't hear you" after the woman's emotionally charged outburst about how terrible Herndon is.
Tuning some of these shrill nut jobs out is the only sensible response under the circumstances. Kudos to Reid for not engaging with them. The way they go on about how much they sacrificed to live in the Langley district, as if no one else makes sacrifices to live elsewhere and is living it up because they don’t care as much about their kids’ education, is just revolting.
It’s ironically revolting to call a minority student who speaks at a FCPS meeting revolting. Stop mocking kids.
Being a minority isn’t some sort of shield from being criticized for being racist. Though I would save the criticism for the adults who put the kid up to it.
Old enough to remember the pearl clutching from posters last year when the EXACT same thing happened but the student was pro-boundary change. Care to circle the square, or do your rules only apply for others and not yourself? I generally do not like mocking students, in particular minority students, but it sounds like that’s not your stance. Do better, or at least be less of a hypocrite.
I don’t know what you’re referring to because I don’t live on here. My stance is that it’s a bad look to put your kid up to complain about how horrible it would be to get moved from their rich school to a lower SES school with a different kind of minority they don’t seem to want their kids to be around. It’s gross behavior.
