Most kids in NYC who enter SHSAT schools (Stuy, Bronx Science, etc.) from public schools end up doing calc as a senior. And these are the best and brightest. The take calc early phenomenon is dumb. It is not proving anything.
Stuy is THE best STEM magnet school in the country, yet fcps moms say they are very behind.
Stuy is not the best STEM magnet school. TJ and Blair SMACS are better. Florida has better charter schools (semiprivate) like Frazer.
Move out of your pathetic DC area bubble. Not even close. Bronx Science (which is basically the runner up to Stuy) is also better than those.
Sorry, facts and performance matter.
Everyone around the world knows Stuy and they Bronx Science. A lot of people know TJ. A fair amount of people know NCSSM. No one cares at all about the other ones - might as well be at West Omaha School of Auto Repair.
Because they are large schools and New York City is famous and large and important. Meanwhile the top students in NYC are from rich parents or scholarships kids who go to private or boarding school. If you look at which schools churn out award winning students, Stuy (and lol at Bronx Science) is down the list.
