How is 3d 2020?
From what I heard from a friend who's son played on the 2020 team, kids are leaving. 3D has a big name nationally, but hasn't taken off here in the Mid Atlantic. He is now shopping around for another club for his son to play on. As for playing club or not and paying the $$$ and determining if it is "worth it" is a family decision. Our son has played for a local club program for several years, as well as individual showcases. With the recent shift in early recruiting the # of coaches prowling the sidelines is considerably down for his class (2020). That being said, there is no comparison to the exposure received at club/showcase events vs. high school games. MIAA, IAC, etc. coaches all have college connections - but logistically, it's impossible for D1 - 3 coaches to watch a high volume of individual high school games. They've got their own season to focus on. Targeting a specific player? Sure. But for sheer exposure, club/showcases will net you 10X the number of eyeballs. Lacrosse is not a money sport. D1 12.6 scholarships; Ivy zero scholarship dollars. We view lacrosse as another lever our son can pull in the admissions process, in hopes of tipping the scales for a potential reach school (e.g. Princeton). It's his passion, so we pave the path. Success is up to his work ethic and commitment. So far it's been working out well for us. Your mileage may vary.
My son played 3D 2020 and they did well in their tournaments this summer. Is the team perfect no but he enjoyed his time on the team. He did receive feedback from practices and games. One coach was great motivation for my son. Hopefully he will have the same experience this coming season.
