When you say "like" the guy, and therefore, you will "let him" pay for you, what you really mean is that you perceive the particular guy as a person you think you can take advantage of longer term than a single date; and therefore, "letting him pay" is your way of "testing" whether he is actually dumb enough to let you do that. If he isn't dumb enough to let you take financial advantage of him on the very first date, then what's the point of continuing? There's always a more willing sucker out there for you to plunder.[/quote]
