WOW! I agree Eddie is missed and I believe that his leaving seems a bit sketchy to say the least. But the root of this should be made transparent. Esp. before we go blaming Rich. I think what this person is trying to say is that it is frustrating to see our club crumble when it didn't have to. and what makes it even more frustrating is that the leaders, the people that ultimately botched the TD selection, do not take ownership of their mistake, but seem to be throwing Rich under the bus to deflect the attention and anger away from themselves.
The leaders aren't doing that. The general membership is angry with Rich. One or two cranks on this message board have a personal issue with past and/or present board members. And make no mistake -- the next Board election will be fascinating. It may split into a pro-Rich and anti-Rich slate.
I uderstand your message regarding the disappointment with Rich. I think the majority of us are. But, I still dont think that you are understanding the point with the person that has been bantering with you. I think that, while he concurrs that Rich is indeed a significant roadblock to VYS's success, he is trying to drive home that there is a reason for that. Not taking sides, but he is basically saying that Rich didn't land himself at VYS without assistance. I see that point, to a degree. I also see that everyone makes mistakes, no one is perfect. It has turned out to be a very costly mistake. I dont even know that it is necessarily a pro Eddie Lima debate. he was great, I won't take away from that. But I think it's more a frustration with the decision to make the drastic change when things seemed to most folks to be going pretty well. A lack of understanding of why the decision happened without any input from the members upset some. Whats done is done. It is just a shame that the board allowed it to get to this severe state.<I guess it is a responsibility issue. I don't know if he is talking about his frustrations or speaking for a group but to be honest I have heard more grumbling than usual... esp with the recent firings. I just hope the board is being on the up and up because I am afraid if it is learned that any transparency was intentionally withheld, it would be very costly to the club. I dont know that on a board like this is the place to sort that out but, people get emotional when it comes to their kids.
Does anyone here realize that there are some things that can't be legally said in public? The person ranting about the board is ignorant and irrationally bitter. Yes, some people on the board voted to hire him. I don't know which ones. I know the current board members may deserve some blame for neither reining in nor firing Rich. But it's pretty obvious -- whoever this guy in the thread is -- that he has some personal gripe that in no way reflects on the club. He did in the travel soccer thread, too, which is why so much of it has focused on VYS. Actually, there were multiple agendas in that thread -- does everyone remember when we were all told Eddie had masterminded the 2014 board elections that dumped out some of the old guard? How'd that turn out for Eddie? So maybe it's a couple of people with irrational, unsubstantiated agendas. Or maybe it's one person, and he's just wildly inconsistent. That's not to say all the VYS critics are one person. I'm a VYS critic at this point, and I know there's a lot of anger and frustration. It's just not as ridiculous as the 1-2 people on this thread who make absurd comments like "don't quit your day job" about volunteers who are just trying to do their best. So I'm done with those people. And I hope others are as well. We have plenty of legitimate problems to talk about. The anonymous, irresponsible character assassination needs no more response.
