For those of you with current FCPS 2nd graders, when did you receive a letter telling you your child was eligible -- with the forms to fill out, etc.? I have a 2nd grader, but I still haven't received that letter -- and these posts are making me think I should have received it already. I didn't receive her scores from her ES until mid-January. I will call the school, whenever it's back in session . . . Thanks so much.
Letters to parents notifying that a child was in the 2nd grade pool were sent to parents in January.
Thanks for the quick reply. So I guess I do need to worry. Do you know WHERE the letter comes from? Would her ES send it -- or is it from a central office? Thanks again.
Also, you can parent refer, and it doesn't matter if your daughter is in the pool or not. They would consider the parent referral just as they would consider any other student in the pool. The parent referral form is due to the local school's Advanced Academics Resource Teacher (AART) the next day there is school. (It was supposed to be due February 5, but the snow and school closure changed the deadline.) The parent referral form is on the FCPS website: http://www.fcps.edu/DIS/gt/forms.html
