If you DID receive a letter stating that your child is in the 2nd grade pool and you are submitting optional materials, those are due Friday, February 12.
From the FCPS web site:

February 2 - 5, 2010 (8:30 am - 4:00 pm)
Parents of students not attending FCPS submit screening files*.
If FCPS schools are closed due to inclement weather on Friday February 5,
the deadline for private school files for Level IV screening will be extend to Monday, February 8 or the next day that FCPS schools are open.

Optional screening file materials due to local school (according to guidelines).
My second grader did score over 130 -- on both the math and verbal sections of the CoGAT. I think my ES is slow. As I mentioned, I didn't get her scores until a few weeks ago.
Anonymous wrote:So, sorry, my question now is: was that Parent Questionnaire form also due Friday, 2/5? Not a parent-referral, but the Parent/Guardian Questionnaire form that I think is mailed with the your-child-is-eligible letter (that I haven't received, but should have . . .)
I have looked at the website, but it's still not clear to me.
Thanks again everyone.

I have a 2nd grader, but I still haven't received that letter -- and these posts are making me think I should have received it already.
I didn't receive her scores from her ES until mid-January. I will call the school, whenever it's back in session . . .
Thanks so much.
You definitely would have received the letter by now, but you don't need to waste time calling the school at this point. The cutoff score is 130. If your child does not have a 130 in at least one subtest or as a composite score, s/he's not in the pool. (You don't receive a letter telling you your child is not in the pool; it is sent only to those in the pool.)
If you still want to refer, you do need to get going on it ASAP. Get on the FCPS website, read the parent information packet, complete the forms and have them ready to submit as soon as school reopens. As noted by a PP, the deadline for parent referrals was Friday, Feb. 5th, but (luckily for you!) school was closed that day, so referrals will be accepted on the day school reopens. If it were me, I would get everything finished today. It's unlikely school will reopen on Monday, but I'd rather have everything in hand, just in case.

Letters to parents notifying that a child was in the 2nd grade pool were sent to parents in January.
Thanks for the quick reply. So I guess I do need to worry.
Do you know WHERE the letter comes from? Would her ES send it -- or is it from a central office?
Thanks again.
