It amuses the hell out of me what people see and don't see. When I think of folks who came over on the Mayflower, I think nothing beyond folks coming over on the Mayflower. This probably is not a meaningful difference, from the point of view of the people who were here before the Pilgrims and "first settlers". (But I am not one of them and do not speak for them.)
