Does anyone here have friends or relatives in the group he’s summoning? I’d love to hear their opinions of Hegseth.
I posted earlier. I have a neighbor who is a major general. From previous year’s conversations I know he and his family are not favorable of the Trump administration and are the opposite of MAGA, but opinions have not been shared much at all during this term.
Your friend and his family are entirely correct to keep quiet. The MO is: you follow orders and don't opine about stuff that isn't directly in your job description... until you get an order you cannot follow. This is what a lot of lawyers at DOJ did. They did their best until the worse was asked of them, and then they quit. I have friends at State. Mum's the word until you quit. Spouses, teens, etc know to also be careful about what they say and what they post on social media. I also know a few diplomats in DC - same thing, they don't want their country to become a target of retribution. This administration has done it before, over chance remarks. Sometimes it's hard to rein in the teens. Internally... a lot of people are fighting the good fight. But you will never hear about it unless there's a huge to-do that spills out into the open.
