I can't help but notice the absence of the Catholic MAGA crowd commenting on the new Pope. He's an American from Chicago, guys! Why aren't you commenting about your great happiness at finally having an American Pope? Truly, the above is tongue-in-cheek. I think I know why MAGAs are not commenting. They are not happy with the choice. They know it's a slap in the face to Trump.
Can a real Catholic also be a Marxist? I don’t think so.
Absolutely. A Catholic can be Marxist. When you read the Gospels, do you think Jesus would be a supporter of greedy and exploitive politicians like Donald Trump? I don't think so. Christ's teachings do not align with the Republican Party at all. And I think the ideal of Marxism is much more Christian. Though, of course, it doesn't work in practice. But the idea of it is much more Christian than the greed and cruelty of Trumpism and the GOP.
Marxism is inherently and fundamentally atheistic and hence incompatible with Catholicism or indeed any religious faith.
