But, I 100% believe government also carries out core functions (safety nets, infrastructure, data collection) that the average American doesn't understand at all, doesn't think they benefit from, and will sorely miss when gone. The state cannot and will not properly do these functions. Also, every private agency/company I've ever worked at has had more/similar bloat. Part of society is to give people jobs. If everything is about efficiency and function we'll be down to people that provide healthcare (not the layers of admin above them), grow food, teach kids to read/math, and make shelter/clothes. The rest of what the rest of us do is pretty make work anyway. (Think your average lawyer.)[/quote]
