NP. It isn't just about cuts. It's where the cuts will be (ie, WHO is getting cut - the higher level people with the knowledge and experience. Bad for the government, and bad for those employees who are approaching retirement and could lose it all).
It's about Trump and his sycophants wanting to eliminate anyone who essentially believes in their oath of allegiance to the constitution and the country rather than taking an oath to the person in the oval office. That can happen at any/all agencies.
It's also about the Feds' retirement system (TSP) that Trump was eyeing his first time around to raid in order to bolster Social Security.

Not sure where you're getting information that Trump would raid TSPs to bolster Social Security. That makes no sense - they are basically 401ks that federal employees/retirees have funded and own. That's like saying "Trump will steal all of Democrats' savings to reduce the national debt."

I'm a fed with 30+ years in and I hit my minimum age to retire in April but I won't have been on the fed health insurance for 5 years. I was planning to stay until I hit 62. In my case, I'm at an agency that is about as apolitical as you can get plus we don't recieve an appropriation. Most of our people are 100% remote so that might be targeted but it is subject to several union agreements so I don't think there is much that can be done and they have way bigger fish to fry.

That said, under R administrations they do stuff on the margins that is irritating and the overall feel from the top is that we are peons and if we had any real talent, we wouldn't be working here. Day to day stuff doesn't change much, fortunately.

I feel for all of my fellow feds who are at targeted agencies. I have friends across all agencies and the ones in the targeted ones are running for the doors.

I believe in public service, I even agree with some things he wants and plans to do but it is still nerve wracking. So they think. But they'll accidentally create a bunch of new fat and large unemployment numbers too. I don't trust they'd trim the fat and improve the economy enough for everyone to benefit. They haven't shown us they have anything but a concept of a plan, which they'll try to implement while it's still a concept, and it will be a mess.

I see from the inside that there is bloat and definitely wasted cost.

But, I 100% believe government also carries out core functions (safety nets, infrastructure, data collection) that the average American doesn't understand at all, doesn't think they benefit from, and will sorely miss when gone. The state cannot and will not properly do these functions.

Also, every private agency/company I've ever worked at has had more/similar bloat. Part of society is to give people jobs. If everything is about efficiency and function we'll be down to people that provide healthcare (not the layers of admin above them), grow food, teach kids to read/math, and make shelter/clothes. The rest of what the rest of us do is pretty make work anyway. (Think your average lawyer.)
