It was fine, but I think they changed it too much from the book. Not that the book is a masterpiece, lol, but they added a bunch of unnecessary things (NK’s brother and NK’s scandalous past; third brother and trust that is available after youngest turns 18). They also totally changed the ending. Those who adapted it for the screen said they wanted an intentional ending. They could have gotten that but closer to what the book had. It just felt really busy and hurried by the last episode.
The crazy NK brother thing was bizarre. Can someone remind me of the book ending?
What was the twist in the book if the 3rd brother/trust was added? That was the whole Premise Of the murder in the show?
Dakota’s character still did the pill thing but she meant it for the woman her husband was cheating with and glasses switched or something. So she just stayed quiet. Something happened where NK’s character realized her DIL did it but kept it a secret for the sake of her family. That was the end. Also, in the book, the relationship between Amelia and Scooter was much more intense. They basically fell in love and I can’t remember if the ending was open such that they ended up together or might in the future. It made more sense and was a bigger conflict in the book. She actually had bags packed to leave the wedding and run away with scooter when the body was discovered. The dynamic between NK and her husband was similar - he was a blue blood, she made her own money but was now supporting the family. But they didn’t get into any prostitution past or a crazy brother. I enjoyed the show but the book made more sense. Neither one a classic or anything.
