What happened to this? Taylor?: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/983928.page
Are you asking why Taylor didn't go back in time and implement a plan from three years before he was hired? Honestly, folks, let's give the guy a chance. We all want the same thing (except the trolls that are just here to undermine faith in public education). It's been fewer than six months and he's already given clearer answers to many questions than McKnight gave in three years on the job. We need *someone* in the superintendent role, and it would be great if MCPS parents stopped living up to their reputation as making it not worth the job.
That's a ridiculous read on why the poster was sharing this. The reality is there is an existing strategic plan. Given the failures and disruptions that have happened within MCPS, which parts of the existing strategic plan is he moving forward and which parts is he not? That is a very reasonable ask to have of a superintendent who knew damn well he was stepping into a leadership position for a system that is very much in crisis and distress.
As already shared above, Taylor addresses the strategic plan here: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/superintendent/entry-plan/#strategicplan
By basically sharing that the current Strategic Plan is ending and so a new one will be created? How revolutionary from him to share something that everyone already knows. And the team shared nothing worthwhile in the latest Strategic Planning Committee meeting. The didn’t share the 23/24 actual data. They didn’t share any info about Phase 1, despite create a Phase 1B. They didn’t provide dates for the next phase meetings despite them supposing to be taking place in October and November. They didn’t align any specific delivery expectations with planned committee meetings. If there was anything I would expect to see him speaking up on and the team providing key info and details on during a BOE meeting it would be the CurrentStrategic Plan and new plan’s planning. Because that a primary function of the Chief Executive aka Superintendent.
