I once spent money on a nice bag. Not from a designer, or even recognizable brand, but a cut or two above what I’d normally spend. The idea was to purchase one nice thing and wear it most of the time. Better for the environment, etc..  I am going to be a lot more cautious going forward. I can’t afford to spend a ton of money on something and then not be able to wear it. [/quote]
But you realize there are plenty of companies that make high-quality things but don't have a big name, right?

When I was trying on gowns once, I went to high end boutiques and the dresses weren't any better made that your middle of the road stuff. You are absolutely NOT paying for quality with most of these brands. You can get handmade stuff if you look harder. [/quote]
