This was literally a question by ACB today. When all 50 states have safe haven laws and adoption exists, why does abortion need to be a thing? (paraphrasing)[/quote]

I’m tired of the horrible child/rape scenarios as justification. They’re a very small percentage of cases. But let’s talk about the vast majority of women… How about having to carry that unwanted child for 9 months? How about the cost of having that kid in our hellhole of a medical system? How about giving birth and hoping for no complications in our horrible maternal death rate country? What about time off work? No pay for recovery - parental leave is inadequate? What if there are complications and the woman must go on bed rest? Who pays her bills? What about the social stigma? It was recent history that just being married and pregnant was a source of shame!

This doesn’t even begin to address the psychological impacts! People talk about being pregnant and giving birth in the very abstract, largely because they’re men. I have had two kids, which were wanted, and I had a horrible time pregnant and actually flat-lined during my csection. Pregnancy and birth are hard when you want the baby! [/quote]
