So this is a little off the topic, but kinda related. Great schools shows Wilson rated as an 8 which is as high as many of the private high schools in the area, why do so many Foxhall families choose private schools I'd the DC schools have improved to that level? Also the local key school is a 9- the max is 10 so why do they choose all these privates like field and Georgetown or whatever?
About half the kids in Ward 3 do attend public schools and there's no reason to believe Foxhall is any different. Why do families go private? At high school, for your money your kid gets a lot more attention -- a much lower student/teacher ratio and much, much more attention when it comes to college counseling. At the younger grades? It's hard to get into privates for high school, but if you pony up in the younger grades it's a way in. Some families like the "country club" aspect of private school that you get to hang out with other families who can swing $40K+ for tuition which means their kids are hanging out with the "right" people.
