It's great that we are all on here sharing that FCCA isn't the only view on the issue, but they are organized and write to the politicians. We should too.

Also you may want to put in subject line in case they don't read all emails: build the school or build the Foxhall school, something like that. Diversify the Palisades. Build the trail. FCCA doesn't represent me - build the school. Whatever's you are advocating for.
Great idea. Are there any petitions in support of building the new school? I would definitely sign one.
It’s not hard to out-organize a bunch of working parents, but the retired NIMBYs are putting up the only show in town at the moment.

The delays - and total silence - are completely inexcusable. Is the mayor really allowing herself to be intimidated by racist NIMBYs?
What is funny is there is a large number of parents that want DCPS to build more homes closer to them (classic YIMBYism). I think there is an entire contingent that would rather have stoddert undergo 3 year of renovation chaos then sent their kids to some NIMBY hell-hole.

Anonymous wrote:So this is a little off the topic, but kinda related. Great schools shows Wilson rated as an 8 which is as high as many of the private high schools in the area, why do so many Foxhall families choose private schools I'd the DC schools have improved to that level? Also the local key school is a 9- the max is 10 so why do they choose all these privates like field and Georgetown or whatever?

Um. They're a little busy at the moment.Seriously, don't hold your breath. There are a gazillion things that are much more urgent for many more kids.
Roughly 75% of DCPS kids are poor/disadvantaged. 80% percent are not white. 15% have diagnosed disabilities requiring special education.
Then there's things like the digital divide, gun violence and trauma, language barriers, looming evictions, transportation issues, higher cases of and deaths from COVID, stressors like police shooting (WaPo article today), delta variant spread....What am I missing? Oh right. Access to food through schools
Why should DCPS spend more tme and money on future buildings for kids who could probably Zoom for another year from the comfort of some of the nicest homes in the city.
They don't have a solid plan for Foxhall. It's a nice to have problem for a system facing life and death issues today.
Chill out for s bit.
