Please look at the economies of gateway cities, like el Paso, where 25% of the population is either foreign born or illegal.  Although the city has grown enormously, economic prosperity has not come with the growth.  It is the 11th poorest city, only 75% completed high school.  Industries which prey on illegal labor have relocated there and have kept wages very depressed for the whole community.  Please do some research on these local economies.  [/quote]
