OP here, and THIS is what I've been trying to communicate, not only on this thread but on the adjacent one focused on White. (Clearly, Silverman is more articulate than I am.)

I echo ALL of her comments, but want to draw out her remark that we cannot blame ignorance for antisemitic remarks (and attitudes), as was attempted on Trayon's behalf, but rather we must assign the blame where it belongs - to the association with and poisoning of black minds by Farrakhan and his followers. All public attachments to Farrakhan must be halted:

1) Any Council member or public official who donates funds to Farrakhan's hate group will be asked to resign or be fired.
2) Any Council member or public official who permits a Farrakhanite to speak at a public event will be asked to resign or be fired.
3) Any Council member who is asked but refuses to repudiate a Farrakanite's hate speech will be deemed as condoning antisemitism and asked to resign.
4) Grants to organizations that sponsor events headlined by an Farrakhanite (such as the one on Thursday who called Jews "termites") will be halted immediately.

How do you define a Farrakhanite?  Especially with an expansive definition, this goes too far.  At some point, you don't get to completely dictate who is persona non grata in D.C. politics.[/quote]
A Farrakhanite is one who is a follower of Farrakhan and publicly promotes his venomous views against Jews (and whites), thereby advancing bigotry and division. The leaders in DC politics have every right - I'd say they have an obligation - to develop an action plan to promote tolerance of all races and religions.
